Lee Seung Gi’s new song, which he wrote himself, sweeps seven music charts in Korea

Singer and actor Lee Seung Gi ranked at the top of seven Korean music charts with his own song “The Last Word” in just three hours after its release on May 27. The song is included in the sound track of his drama series The Goo Family Book and will be featured in Lee and Suzy’s love story. At 3:00 p.m. on the release date, the song ranked first on various real-time music charts in Korea, including Melon, Daum, Cyworld, Bugs, Soribada, Olleh, and Naver Music.
Lee participated in writing the words and music. An official of his agency says: “This is the first time for a lead actor to write a song for a drama series he is in himself. It will be a special present for his drama fans. He has proven his ability to write a song previously when he wrote the song “Put It Back” for his fifth album, Forest, which was released last October. Lee wrote the song in collaborating with the producer Side Kick.”
The song is based on pop ballads but diverges from existing ballads. Nicely arranged string parts and the refined melody suit Lee’s emotional voice well.
